Hmong Cultural Center Receives Grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation
To Support Citizenship and English as a Second Language Classes

Hmong Cultural Center
Press Release

SAINT PAUL, MN - In April 2012, Hmong Cultural Center received a grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation to support its Citizenship classes targeted toward the needs of elderly and disabled Hmong refugees. These classes have had a waiting list at the center due to limited class space. The grant will also help support transportation services in the center's Citizenship and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.

Txongpao Lee, Executive Director of Hmong Cultural Center stated: "Hmong Cultural Center is very pleased to receive this important support from the Otto Bremer Foundation for our Citizenship and ESL Classes. With this grant Hmong Cultural Center will be able to offer several additional hours a week of Citizenship instruction to elderly and disabled Hmong refugees over the course of the grant period. Last year, almost 100 elderly and disabled Hmong earned their U.S. Citizenship after taking classes at Hmong Cultural Center. Through its financial support of the center's unique Citizenship classes, the Otto Bremer Foundation will play a substantive part in helping many more disabled and older Hmong refugees become proud citizens of the United States in 2012."
